The SEC Tournament has arrived and like every year there are teams who really need some help in New Orleans and there are some teams who's NCAA Tournament hopes are about as stable as a house of cards. Sadly, its another year where Arkansas really isn't a factor in this tournament going in. The only way Arkansas gets to the NCAA Tournament this year is by winning four games in four days, including beating Kentucky, which would qualify as the biggest upset in the history of Razorback basketball. There are other teams with something at stake this week.
The most to gain: TENNESSEE
The Vols have played their way to the doorstep of the big dance, but they are not in yet. They are the number two seed in this tournament and are a win from being in the NCAA's, two wins from being a lock. Cuonzo Martin can coach, period. This is not a flash in the pan, winning with someone else's players (see Frank Haith at Missouri). Martin is a leader of men and he will continue to have success at Tennessee. It is an incredible story that the Vols are this close to making the NCAA tournament.
The most to lose: MISSISSIPPI STATE
Rick Stansbury's team is one bad performance away from being in the NIT. I still believe this team has awful chemistry behind the scenes judging from some of the comments Arnett Moultrie made early last week. A blowout win can make chemistry issues go away for a while, but the next time the Bulldogs face adversity, the problems will be bigger than before. Renardo Sidney's is the laziest player in the history of college basketball and I fully expect State to stub it's toe in the first game or two and be watching March Madness on DirecTV like the rest of us.
